Say goodbye to unsightly facial veins.
What is it?
Small red veins - commonly found on the cheeks, nose and chin - can affect both men and women.
Factors like medication, injury and lifestyle can contribute to their appearance, but they can be treated easily and effectively.
At our clinic, we use short wave diathermy, which can result in the complete removal of the vein or a significant improvement in its appearance.

How it works
We use short wave diathermy to treat the veins.
During the procedure, a very fine needle delivers a small electrical current directly into the vessel.
This causes the vein to turn pale as the blood inside it clots, preventing blood from flowing through it.

What to expect
The consultation: The first step is a confidential, no-obligation consultation to assess the veins you wish to have treated and to discuss the procedure in detail. We will ensure you have all the information you need and feel comfortable before proceeding.
The procedure: The treatment is precise and targeted. Most patients describe feeling a tingling or some heat, but no pain. For more sensitive areas, we can apply an anaesthetic cream to ensure the treatment is comfortable.
Recovery: The treated vein typically disappears immediately, turning from red to a normal skin colour. You may experience some temporary local irritation that should settle within a few hours. A tiny scab may form at the treatment site, which will fall off within a week. The vein can sometimes appear a little darker for a couple of weeks, but this is a normal part of the healing process and will fade as your body breaks down any remaining blood.
Who is this for?
This treatment is ideal for anyone bothered by small red veins on their face.
It is a simple and effective way to achieve a clearer, more even skin tone.
Please note: We are not able to treat larger thread veins on the legs or varicose veins.

FAQs
Is the treatment painful?
How many treatments will I need?
What happens to the vein after treatment?
- Most patients feel a slight tingling or heat, but no pain. We can use an anaesthetic cream for sensitive areas to ensure as painless an experience as possible.
How many treatments will I need?
- We aim to treat as many vessels as possible during your first appointment. However, depending on the severity and number of veins, further treatments may be necessary. These are usually scheduled two to four weeks after the initial treatment. Any additional follow-up appointments over and above this may attract a fee.
What happens to the vein after treatment?
- The vein will usually disappear immediately, though it may darken slightly for a week or two as your body naturally clears the treated vessel.
