Dermoscopy - or mole scanning - is a pain-free, non-invasive method of examining your skin in detail.
What is it?
Dermoscopy is a technique for examining the appearance of the skin (lesions and rashes). It uses a specialised camera, which produces medical grade digital images. These are sent to be examined by a Consultant Dermatologist to give advice on the mole, lesion or skin condition that you are concerned about to provide a diagnosis for skin problems.
If you have a mole, lesion or skin condition that you are concerned about then this service is for you.

How it works
Sage Aesthetic has partnered with DermoSight to provide our patients with fast and efficient consultant-grade dermatology advice and guidance. The mole and blemish check is a computer-assisted mole scanning and digital photo-dermoscopy skin analysis service.
What to expect
The consultation: you will have a face-to-face consultation with Dr Richard Gordon or Dr Morag Stewart where we take a full medical and skin history, after which we image your mole & lesions or skin condition using our digital Dermatoscope (camera). This information will be compiled and referred securely to the Dermosight Consultant Dermatologist who specialises in this type of photographic skin assessment.
The procedure: The assessment itself is performed with the utmost care and attention. The camera takes two images, a clinical image (from a distance) and a dermatoscopic image (extreme close-up) of your skin concerns. Consultant dermatologists then access the consultation, your information and images and analyse the report providing guidance on management as appropriate.
Post-consultation: We will typically have a result to share with you in as little as three days. we will contact you with the report advice and to discuss next steps, where appropriate.
Options may include for example a prescription (private) biopsy, or removal of a lesion. You may prefer to discuss any treatment with your NHS General Practitioner instead, in which case we can assist you with this.
